Work from home scams are fake job offers specifically created to steal your money or identity. Most of the time these scams happen on the internet or are sent by mail.

How To Avoid Work From Home Scams?

Don’t be the next person!  Listed below are our thoughts on the best way to separate the good work from home opportunities from the bad ones.

1. Never Pay Money To Work From Home

You should never have to pay to work from home yet there are unscrupulous people and organizations out there that will try to get money from before you can start your job.

Such “opportunities” should be treated with the same regard as phishing scams and be ignored straight away.

Does it even sound OK when someone tells you you need to shell out money to work for them?

2. Research The Company

‘Google’ the organization and have a look at the search results you find. If someone ended up being scammed by this organization chances are they likely discussed their experience on the web.

In addition, try to look for the business name plus the term ‘scam’ together. Even so, you should take into account that when you don’t discover any negative issues discussed about this business this doesn’t imply it’s a good venture.

Check out this company through Better Business Bureau and check out their domain listing through the whois database! If it’s a relatively new website be aware!

3. Talk to other people

When you know a person who has also registered with this organization, make sure you chat with them and ask for their views and experiences with regard to the organization.

Online forums are usually an excellent method to get details about the organization.

4. Join Work From Home Forums or Social Media Groups

It’s great to share your work and passions with like-minded people, so social media groups and forums are excellent for this.

Make sure however that you join places that are strictly moderated and don’t allow spam. Some FB groups are inundated with spam and recruiters that you need a weed whacker to go through the crap posted there.

5. If It Sounds Too Good To Be True….

You can’t get rich without doing the work. Don’t be fooled by opportunities that promise the world to you.

Some indicators that should raise the alarm are:

  • An above-average pay or bonus.
  • Easy work.
  • The work is labeled as “very newbie-friendly”.

6. Watch Out For Email Scams

If you receive an enticing work-from-home offer through your email make sure to check the email address by hovering over it and checking the domain extension.

Scammers tend to use email addresses that end in .ru or complete garbage domain names ending in .xyz for example.

Also, they tend to use free mail services like yahoo, outlook, or Gmail. A legit company has its own domain name and corresponding email address.

And never open an attachment from a person or company you don’t know no matter how enticing it looks. It may contain a virus, trojan, or some other kind of malware to steal passwords or hijack your computer.
