The LeapFrog Scribble and Write is a learning toy aimed at young children from the ages of 3 and up. It firstly encourages children to hold a stylus and scribble on the electronic board, teaching them how to hold a pen and how to scribble.
When this is mastered, the Scribble and Write can be changed to a harder setting. Children can now follow the lights on the board to trace letters and numbers, with the Scribble and Write providing encouragement and feedback along the way! Learning to write has never been this much fun!

Is the LeapFrog Scribble and Write Toy Worth Buying?
Encouraging children to write can be difficult, and the Scribble and Write toy aims to start when children are just learning how to hold a pen. The stylus is designed to be unbiased for both left and right handed children. The toy has two settings, although the writing mode is where it really stands out. In scribble mode, children are learning how to hold the stylus and how to use it to write on the board. While it is well designed, there is nothing standout about this feature. However, the Scribble and Write really comes alive when you move on to the writing mode.
In writing mode, the Scribble and Write lights up a letter or number on the board. Children then must use the stylus to trace over the letter. Audio feedback is given by the toy, although parents may wish to supervise this play initially to give their own encouragement and feedback to children as they learn what it is they are trying to achieve. Learning to write is tricky, and it does take some time for children to adapt to the new challenge. However, the nature of the toy means that practice is encouraged, and continued use does see great improvements in children’s tracing abilities.
The Scribble and Write teaches children about the sounds of letters and numbers, and how to write them. Will every child love it? No. Some will struggle, and progress can be slow. However, it is important for parents to encourage patience, and to encourage and help children in any way. Primarily, the LeapFrog Scribble and Write is a toy, and while it does have educational benefits, children should enjoy playing with it. If it helps children with their handwriting, even slightly, then it will have done a brilliant job.
