Are you trying to get pregnant? Or maybe you are trying to prevent a pregnancy. Or maybe you just want to know what the early signs of pregnancy are.
Whatever your reasons many women love to know the signs of pregnancy in the first month. There are 10 signs of pregnancy that are very common from woman to woman. Some women find that they have 2 or 3 signs early and then in the next pregnancy those 2 or 3 signs are different.
Tender Swollen Breasts
The first symptom of pregnancy that many women recognize are tender, swollen breasts. This is caused by the sudden increase in hormones that your body is experiencing. Many women who used to use high dose birth control pills also experienced tender, swollen breasts for the same reasons.
This swelling and discomfort will decrease after your first trimester as your body adjusts to the increased hormone levels.
Fatigue is another common symptom of pregnancy. You might suddenly find you are tired – or maybe just exhausted. Doctors theorize that this sudden fatigue in early pregnancy is again your body adjusting to the increase in hormones, specifically progesterone. Your energy levels should increase as you reach the second trimester.
Spotting or Implantation Bleeding
Another symptom of pregnancy that isn’t quite as common is implantation bleeding. Some women notice a small amount of spotting around 11 or 12 days after fertilization when the egg is implanting into the uterus. This happens approximately when you would have gotten your period.
Other women will also notice some cramping at this time also for the same reasons.
Nausea or Morning Sickness
The majority of women don’t feel the effects of morning sickness until one month after fertilization. Some women find that they begin to feel queasy almost immediately. And morning sickness isn’t just for morning. Women feel nausea and vomiting throughout the day and only get relief after the firs trimester is completed.
Although its uncomfortable it isn’t threatening to you or the baby.
Another one of the signs of pregnancy in the first month is abdominal bloating. This bloating is similar to the bloating that women feel during their periods and caused from an increase in hormone level. Your clothes may feel snugger at the waist even if your uterus is small.
Most women recognize a missed period as another of the first symptoms of pregnancy. This might seem rather obvious however, some women have very irregular periods and they may not even know that they have missed a period until they begin to feel some of the other physical signs and symptoms of pregnancy.
More Trips To The Bathroom
During this time you may also notice that you are going to the bathroom more frequently. When you become pregnant your body begins to increase the amount of fluids and blood, which your kidneys then need to process, ending up in the bladder. This can start six weeks into your first trimester and isn’t relieved until your baby is delivered.
A Positive Pregnancy Test
Your proof positive is a positive pregnancy test. You can use a home test, which is very accurate, or you may chose to visit your regular doctor who can perform a urine pregnancy test in the office. In some cases, when women aren’t clear about when their period is expected or if the early hormone levels are low, the first pregnancy test can be negative.
