Good envelopes but can't use pencil to write on the outside of the envelopes.
Overall I am happy with the envelopes but be aware that if you plan to use the chart printed on the backs of the envelopes to track your transactions you will have to use ink as pencil marks don't show up on the material. I actually printed out index size cards with a similar layout which I keep inside the envelopes with my money, that way I can write in pencil and am able to alter my records if needed. The first pic shows the cards (white) that I printed manually next to one of the envelopes that are included in the Cash Envelope System purchase (green). The white cards ARE NOT included in the purchase. If you don't mind writing in ink you can just use the chart provided on the back of the envelopes, the extra cards that I made are not absolutely necessary, I just prefer them. I included a pic of the template that I used to make them so that you can print your own.

Ordered this set to help me get my finances back in order. I ordered this and the wallet envelope system. However, I returned the wallet system and kept these instead. The pouch easily fits inside a purse and doesn't take up as much room as the bulky wallet systems. The clear pouch allows me to easily find it in my bag and the little pen that comes with it is nice and thin but writes great. I've already seen savings by switching to the all cash system. Trust me, you really think twice when you have to use cash instead of swiping the card! I wish they would have included more budget sheets but they do provide a free template you can use to make your own. I plan to use these for an entire year and see how much I can save. Not sure how long the envelopes will last but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these again if they get worn down! Great product.

Love this system!! I worried about the envelopes ripping, tearing or wearing with use but so far it is great (not rips or tears at all). I’ve thought about doing a cash system for years just never did but a friend of mine purchased this one and was showing it to me and I thought ok why not. I wish i had enough years ago. It makes me much more conscious of what I am spending. I’ve always used my debit card and never thought about spending in stores, but now when I go in to the grocery with my envelope and it only has x amount of money in it, I think about picking up extra this or that. Same goes for our family eating out envelope, makes me think about it before just whipping through and picking something up. We are actually saving more money now!! I highly recommend!! I actually went online to purchase another system for my 15 year old daughter, but notice that the ones (the design) I purchased are no longer available, but they do have them in different colors. I do wish they had just extra envelopes available for purchase (I filled all of mine because I use some for our rental property as well).

I tried to keep money in bank envelopes, but the gummy top gets nasty and the artwork on the envelopes leaves little space to write notes on. I got the idea of cash envelopes from the Dave Ramsey Show. I didn't want to invest in the whole "envelope system", so I compromised with these. They seem to be good quality, but I'm not sure if they are a good value. Time will tell. There is plenty of room to keep a running tally of your savings.

We have been using the envelope system for nearly 11 years and buying replacement Financial Peace University envelopes can add up. Because of this, I ordered blank check registers and started using the pages to track expenditure and reuse the FPU envelopes, which I keep having to tape up due to wear and tear from frequent use. When I saw these Tyvek type envelopes, I had to try them. They are great! I like the fact that they are different colors to help identify budget categories. The flaps are a bonus, so now I don't have to use a paper clip to keep from taking money from the wrong envelope. I still use the check register pages to track, so I don't have to replace the envelopes before they wear out. I like the plastic envelope it came with these as well. The included marker does bleed through.

Unfortunately when these came the colors are not what was shown. They are muted almost grayed out colors. I won't order again as I want to find something much brighter. I don't know how durable they will be because they just came today. They don't seem sturdy as they are very thin, but they may surprise me in the durability department. They almost feel a little like plastic. I do like the size of the envelope and the printing.
